Dear JM Steno,
I need to buy a new printer that's compatible with my
TuroboCAT 6.1 DOS version and I'm interested in the
HP Laserjet 1012. Do you know if it will work with a
USB Parallel port adapter, if not could you please
recommend a printer for me?
Thank you so much,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
The only requirement for TurboCAT printers is it must have the parallel interface (not USB). That also means it must plug in the back of your TurboCAT security device. This does not mean all parallel printers will work, but it's a good place to start. You will need to individually test the printer on your TurboCAT system to ensure compatibility.
As for a USB Parallel port adapter, I do not recommend them as DOS-based programs do not interface too well with USB devices. If your USB Parallel adapter can utilize DOS-based resources, then there is a chance it would work. But my best recommendation is to get a printer that has the parallel interface in the first place.
Good luck!
