I have installed Open Stenocat on a Toshiba Satellite Computer with Windows 98 (Not SE). Everything works fine except the Real Time icon on Stenocat Explorer. When I click on the icon the screen fades and then brings up the Stenocat Explorer again. I've tried everything. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi qprissy,
This generally occurs on computers faster then 233MHz. You can try programs such as Mo Slo, however this does not work on every computer.
One work around that has worked for me in the past is to create a shortcut on the desktop for running realtime:
- Right-click on a blank spot on the desktop (not over an icon). This will bring up a small context menu. - Move your mouse cursor to 'New' and left-click 'Shortcut'. - Type: c:\stentest\realtime.exe - Click on 'Next' and then give the shortcut a name (usually "Realtime" is sufficient). - Click on 'Next' and choose any icon for the shortcut (the default selected works fine too) and then click 'Finish'.
Now look on the desktop. You should see the shortcut you just created. Double-click the shortcut and the realtime screen should now appear.
Some Toshiba users have reported the following error during realtime:
"Writer Initialization Failed"
If you do get that message, let me know. There is a registry fix that we can apply which may fix it.
Hope that helps!
