I am researching and wanting to pursue a career in scoping. My background is in Medical Terminology,Data Entry, Editing.
My question is what would the Industry Norm be? If one wanted to start what equipment would be the best or more compatible with my future clients? It seems that where we are in Technology today it really just depends on what you are looking to do with the equipment am I right?
Thanks for your responses, jppl

Hi Jppl,
Every reporter uses a Computer-Aided-Transcription (CAT) software. There are many out there to choose from. You would be interested in an 'Edit Only' version, which can be purchased for less then the full version. Here are some of the more popular software titles:
Eclipse (www.eclipsecat.com) Case CATalyst (www.stenograph.com) DigitalCAT (www.stenovations.com) SmartCAT (www.cheetahinternational.com) StenoCAT (www.gsclion.com) Winner (www.procat.com)
Although it is possible to to edit a transcript in one software even when the reporter uses a different software, sometimes formatting gets messed up. I believe most reporters prefer you be on the same software as them for this reason.
