Hi. I'm desperate for installation help. I have to do scoping and I cannot install this:( I have an xp computer, and a key, with a conversion cord (no parallel ports, 9 pin or otherwise). I installed this on 2 desktops years ago, and now I have to do it again and I'm lost. Thanks in advance, -D

Hi D,
I have been successful installing Maestro on an IBM ThinkPad T41 with Windows XP. It required re-routing the serial port settings to Com2. These are just internal settings, as the computer does NOT have a serial port.
Once Com1 settings were free, I installed a Socket IO Card, which is a PC card that adds a serial port to the computer. Its default settings put it on Com4. I had to change the I/O range to 03F8-03FF and the IRQ to 4.
Next, use the Socket program to change the port from Com4 to Com1.
Now you can install Maestro and redirect the key to Com1. Maestro works. I was able to restore a dictionary. Read in a notes disk from a writer. Translate the notes. Edit the job. Back the job up. And restore to a different computer.
It's really a matter of testing each individual system however, so while it worked on my ThinkPad T41, it may not work on a Dell or Sony, or even another ThinkPad.
