Can anyone tell me what the little ticking noise in the StenoRam III+ is for? I would assume that I could use that ticking as a metronome, but I'm not sure if I can set the speed of it the way I can set the volume of the ticking. I am a student and have reached the point where I need to begin doing drills and was wondering if this ticking is used for the purpose of helping you with rhythm. Thanks!

Hi sunshine8370, I checked with the writer techs and they informed me there shouldn't be a "ticking" noise coming from your writer. There is no "metronome" feature in any of the available writers as well. If you are sure that the noise is coming from your StenoRam, I would recommend you send it in to a service center and have it looked at. It may just need the yearly service. You can find out more information about yearly services on our website www.jmsteno.com/servicew.htmIf you currently connect your StenoRam to a computer, what CAT software are you using with it? An older software (Premier Power) actually made "beeps" as you press a stroke on the writer. This can be disabled in realtime options. I don't believe any other software did that by default. Hope that helps!
