Help! I have a Toshiba with an S3 Savage video card built in, and I cannot get Cheetah to open in full screen. I have gone into bios and switched to "stretched" mode. When I hit the icon on the screen, the TurboCat sceen is full screen. When I hit the job screen it goes to about three-quarter size. When booting up the computer, the Windows screen does the same thing momentarily.
Is there a workaround for this? Different display driver? trick? Anything? My Toshiba 8000 is fine but has different video card. This one is an 8100. I also have a 9100 that does the same thing. Thank you for any assistance. Richard

Hi Richard,
Try the 'Full Screen/Windowed Mode' toggle. You can do this by holding down your [ALT] key while pressing [Enter]. Let me know if that fixes it up for you.

Michael, Thank you so much for the reply. I truly appreciate it very much. Unfortunately that did not help. I don't know if I need to use a very old driver, possibly a Win95 driver, or what, that may be more geared toward DOS. Since the only Toshibas I have this issue with use the S3 Savage video card, I think it may have something to do with that. Every Toshiba prior has used a different video card, but of course they've been older models, too. It still may be that the monitor itself requires some sort of software to run DOS-based programs in full screen. If I find out the problem, I will post to let you know. I've just never had a problem like this before, and it is frustrating. Thanks again,
Richard

Hi Richard,
If that did not work, then there's a good chance there is no fix for it. For example, on an IBM ThinkPad T21, the TurboCAT job menu and editor (everything but the startup screen) is all a portion of the size of the screen. This is most likely because DOS programs display at 640x480 resolution and your laptop screen does not follow that same ratio. In order to display the DOS programs in 640x480 without distorting the display, it can only use a portion of the LCD's viewing area, thus giving what would appear to be a "black border" around the TurboCAT screen.
As for the main menu, it is not a DOS-based program, rather a picture file which allows the computer to display it across the entire screen (even though it's size still says 640x480).
Unfortunately I have not found any drivers from any manufacturers which have been able to get around this problem (have spent quite a bit of time searching though). If you do happen to find a workaround, please let us know. Last time I searched on this was several years ago.

Hi Michael,
Thank you again. I think you're right; that is, that there may be no fix. An external monitor works fine, so it is isolated to this LCD display. I should probably find out who is the manufacturer of the two Toshiba displays I have issues with (which may turn out to be the same manufacturer as the IBM ThinkPad T21 display) and contact them. Possibly they have a workaround.
Again, thank you again for all your help. You are appreciated!
Richard
