Dear JM Steno,
I've recently had printer problems so I made a page image ascii disk through my turbocat 6.1 version and I went to my local printing shop and they said they could not print from the disk I made because they could not open the disk. Please tell me how I can get my disk to work for them and have it print exactly including the box that's printed outside the transcript.
Thank you so much,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,
When you create your Page Image ASCII file, there is a point that lets you name the ASCII file. It should look something like this:
A:FILENAME.PRT
If you press your [backspace] key three times, that should remove the PRT extension. Replace it with TXT. Now it should look like this:
A:FILENAME.TXT
Save the file to the disk. Any local printing shop should not have trouble opening a standard text file.
Unfortunately, ASCII files are TEXT ONLY. This means it will NOT print the box and it might lose some other formatting properties as well (such as distance from left side of the page to the first word).
The only way you can print the transcript with the box is to print through TurboCAT. And if you are having trouble finding a compatible printer, just make sure whatever printer you get is compatible with your printer port (aka parallel port). The printer MUST plug in to the back of your TurboCAT security device in order to print. USB printers will NOT work.
I hope this information helps. If you are still having trouble with the Page Image ASCII, feel free to call us toll-free at 877.956.5198.
Best Regards,
