Does anyone know where I can buy one, or do I even really need it? Also how do you know what software you have on the machine. How can you update it? How do I upload the dictionary or does it build as I write? Anything else you can tell me about the machine would be great. Thanks in advance! It has a very small program that lets you load a Stentura-formatted dictionary, and will display your notes in English. There's generally no need to ever update it, as long as it has the latest firmware revision. You really can't do much else with the writer with regards to the dictionary. In order to use the dictionary however, you need a computer with Computer-Aided-Translation (CAT) software loaded. You can build your dictionary in this CAT program, and then convert the dictionary to Stentura 8000 format to load in the writer. All translations are done by the CAT software, not your writer. As far as the computer is concerned, it receives nothing but notes from the writer (even though it has a dictionary on it). So a complete court reporting system consist of a writing device (such as your Stentura), a computer, and CAT software which allows you to import the notes from your writer. It sounds like you are just starting out so the user manual may be beneficial to you.
